MEGAFON grants tactile books on the Knowledge Day

The officers of MEGAFON company granted the special tactile books to blind and visually impaired children from different Russian cities such as Istra, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga, Tula, Caint-Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Smolensk, Rostov-on- Don, Sochi, Krasnodar, Astrahan, Volgograd and Elista.
On the Day of Knowledge, September 2 of 2013, at the special-purpose childcare center #20 of Moscow satellite town Istra the holiday “Hellow, Book” was held. The officers of MEGAFON company themselves granted the books issued by the Foundation to the kids with visual disorders of the mentioned childcare center.
The books created by the Foundation are intended for the visually impaired children. All the details of the books are well thought out carefully so the drawings are clear, large and embossed. Those drawings have nothing to do with the computer-generated images. They are the own works of well-known illustrators such as Maria Pokrovskaya, Elena Belozertseva, Nadezhda Orlova. The high technologies give opportunities to perceive the drawings not with eyes only but with the fingers. Pop-ups and tactile details contribute to develop residual vision, tactual sensation, fine motor skills and attention.
For the 19 years of the its existence since 1994 due to the close work with specialists (psychologists and visual impairment specialists) and the parents of partially sighted kids the Foundation managed to define the best of technologies that help the visually impaired kid to recover up to a point their sight and those completely blind kids to perceive the images in a right manner.
The books make use an auditory analyzer cause they contain the sound microchips. Some of the details are moving, the kids enjoy with it so much!
This year on the Knowledge day the kids got a wonderful AZBUKA (ABC book) with a lot of tactile details and the accompanying device (reading pen) that reads all the texts aloud and sings the songs.
Maxim Motin, the Head for the social programs and special projects of OJSC Megafon accented that Megafon is a kind of socially conscious company. “We are very glad to help children,- he said – and to take part in such interesting project. We hope that the books would really helpful cause they are the integrated solution of the problems of the both visually impaired and blind children”.
MEGAFON company helps blind and visually impaired children since 2002. Within the period of 11 years 590 kids from Moscow and regional special childcare centers got the tactile books. More 126 children all over Russia got the joy of possessing such books in the new school season.
